Laser ablation

We use the Angiodynamics VenaCure® 1470nm endovenous laser to treat failed saphenous veins in our patients. The treatment is usually referred to as EVLT (inside the vein laser treatment).

The treatment is performed in the office with local anesthesia. A laser fiber about the size of a pencil lead is slipped into the vein under ultrasound guidance. The laser produces heat to seal the vein shut and the blood return up the leg is automatically rerouted through other veins. The actual treatment is painless and takes 2-3 minutes.
